Responsibilities:  This is a hands-on position reporting to the CFO and oversees one part-time data entry clerk.  Responsible for the company's financial policies, its accounting practices, maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. General accounting responsibilities (Quickbooks) include asset accounting, payroll for 18 employees, and day-to-day journal entries for a small company. Regarding upcoming projects, accounting will include project and production cost accounting and intellectual properties/royalty payments. Maintain the company's system of accounts and keep books and records on all company transactions and assets. Responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll and other tax rules, regulations, and laws. Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.  Requirements:  Entertainment, Single Event /Project, Catering/banquets type experience required (movie or record production, TV shows, concerts, Special Events, etc.). Experience with Quickbooks.

Assistant Controller   Job # 5750

Responsibilities:  Manage day to day operations of various corporate accounting department activities; including preparation / review of various account reconciliations and consolidated reporting schedules and analysis. Ensure transactions adhere to accounting policies and GAAP and appropriate documentation is prepared to support management's accounting positions under Sarbanes-Oxley. Provide accounting leadership and personnel development to accounting staff to ensure processes are performed timely and efficiently on a global scale. Responsibilities:  This position is a key financial management role with responsibility for all control functions. This position oversees the accounting department, which includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting and payroll. Maintains control of all accounting records and accounting systems. Plans and supervises annual financial audit and generation of financial information for external government and non-government entities. In addition to being hands on, the Controller is responsible for supervising, directly or through reports, all the accounting personnel. The Controller is responsible for building and maintaining effective, collegial and harmonious work relationships with all departments and employees, particularly with principal investigators and administration. The Controller will oversee accounting policies, procedures and timetables. Maintenance of accounting records in accounting system in accordance with GAAP. The Controller will review annual audit, review tax filing for foreign residents/fellows. Manage daily cash flow and short-term investments. Supervise various external financial audits during the year and act as liaison to external auditors.  Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA and public accounting experience highly desirable. Five years of progressive financial management experience in nonprofit research and/or healthcare setting also highly desirable. Supervisory experience required. Ability to interact in an appropriate, professional and cooperative manner with others, and to work as a member of a team. Ability to supervise successfully a wide range of employees. Portfolio Controller   Job # 5732
Industry: Private Equity Firms Annual Compensation: $110 - 120K
Responsibilities:  Supervise and manage the accounting process for the growing portfolios.  Manage a staff of 4 property accountants that work on site at individual properties. Will assist in producing the financial statements for an additional 4 properties. Will be involved with preparing the Real Estate Operations Summary, a quarterly report on the operation of individual properties. The report includes information on A/R, A/P, leasing deals and statistics and lease production. The company is in the process of converting to MRI.  Looking for a candidate with MRI experience and when the implementation is completed, this person will be a point person for the Accounting Department for MRI related questions and help.  Requirements:  A candidate needs to have a Bachelors Degree and ideally 5-6 years of Property Management accounting experience.  Property Management is a must.

Responsibilities:  Reporting to the CFO, the Controller assists with directing the financial affairs of the organization. The Controller manages four (4) Accounting department managers and indirectly oversees a staff of 25+ employees. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the financial and accounting policies, systems and processes, as well as ensuring that company assets are safeguarded and internal controls serve as intended. This position oversees all internal and external reporting and the related preparation of financial analyses of operations. The Controller supervises over month-end close (including consolidation), year-end audit(s), general accounting, accounts payable, weekly payroll, incentive accounting, and analysis and budgeting. Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization. Ensure compliance with GAAP, local, state, and federal reporting requirements. Oversees the activities of the General Accounting Department (Supervisor and staff of 5) to insure balance sheet accounts are properly supported and reconciled. Via this department fixed assets are monitored, and the department coordinates with the Operational piece of the business via our fleet support. Processes and procedures must constantly be challenged and upgraded to we are timely and accurate in our processing and filings. Oversees the activities of the Payables Department (Manager and staff of twelve) where we aim to maximize the use of document imaging to reduce paperwork and maximize efficiencies. Must work to improve our controls but keep our Project Manager and Department Head customers content with timeliness and accuracy. $600 million in accounts payable expenditures! Staff of 12 in A/P. Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations. Ensure that the month-end close and the consolidation of divisional results is done timely and accurately, and done in the most efficient manner. Understands, analyzes and explains all Divisional, business unit and departmental results to and with all users of financial information.. Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. The Controller has the final responsibility for providing effective financial controls for the organization and for designing and implementing new or improved automated accounting systems. Serve on planning and policy-making committees. Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues. Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.  Requirements:  BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business major.  15+ years experience in Accounting and/or Finance positions. 10+ years experience in Supervision and/or Management and in companies over $200 mil in revenue.  Advanced-level MS Excel proficiency and strong software applications background. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group and strategic initiatives Strongly preferred, but not required: MBA with Accounting, Finance, or related concentration. CPA certification. The position works closely with those individuals preparing budgets and forecasts, including at the product-level, in order to understand variances between actual results and projected results. This position has 7 direct reports. Responsible for monthly GAAP compliant financial statements and monthly revenue and earnings "flashes". Understand and concisely explain variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts. Balance Sheet analysis and reconciliation. Maintain/develop sound financial internal controls and policies and procedures in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley and Sony guidelines. Oversee SOX compliance and coordinate with external auditors. Coordinate Quarterly and Annual External Auditor Reviews and Audit. Monthly Overhead reporting and review with management. Oversee budgeting, forecasting and tracking of marketing projects.
