Interim Payroll Specialist (Project)

Our client in the consumer products industry is looking for an Interim Payroll Specialist to join their team in Orange County


Job Description:

  • Perform all operational payroll functions
  • Prepare and review of semi-monthly payroll processing
  • Help maintain payroll operations
  • Prepare check requests or wire transfers for approval, and transmits data
  • Help troubleshoot payroll issues and makes any adjustments necessary
  • Receive, acknowledge, and process employee garnishments and maintains compliance with all state and federal garnishment laws
  • Produce and prepare ad-hoc reports
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure system data is consistent and accurate
  • Prepare and issue manual payroll checks
  • Assist in review of quarterly tax filings
  • Assist HR to maintain accuracy of 401k plan, Flexible Spending plan, and other employee programs related to payroll
  • Assist accounting to research issues and provide information for payroll-related bank account reconciliations
  • Assist in annual workers comp audit



  • FPC or CPP Designation a plus
  • Public accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel and ADP system skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
  • Able to be discreet with confidential/sensitive information
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Able to work on multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency, while keeping to deadlines
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Detail-oriented

  • Strong work ethic



  • Bachelor’s degree a plus and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
