More than 40 CFOs from across Denver gathered at the 2nd Annual Denver CFO Forum, hosted by Century Group in partnership with RSM, to discuss the current M&A landscape and how finance leaders are navigating growth, risk, and integration in an evolving market.
Moderated by RSM Denver Office Managing Partner Danny Collins, the panel featured:
- Rich Walker, CFO of Amp Z Energy
- Marshall Stuckey, CFO of Apex Waste Solutions
- Mary Burnett, CFO of Spheros Environmental
Drawing on their experiences leading organizations through growth and transformation, the panelists shared perspectives on M&A strategy, capital allocation, risk management, talent development, and the expanding role of the CFO as a strategic business leader. Key themes included evaluating acquisition opportunities, integrating acquired businesses, building resilient organizations, and developing high-performing teams that support sustainable growth while balancing short-term market pressures with long-term value creation.
Reflecting on post-acquisition integration, Mary Burnett emphasized the importance of culture, noting “thinking integration stops when you’ve completed all your checklist items is the biggest mistake. Integration is really complete when the companies you’ve acquired talk about themselves as employees of the new organization.”
