The Hiring Need
Fortis Bank’s relationship with Century Group began even before HR Manager, Lauren Miller, joined the banking company. Its Colorado-based office prides themself on their talent acquisition philosophy and strategy and while they are able to handle the majority of roles within the team, when they need a partner to assist, Century Group, is one of the first calls they make.
“We are very selective of the firms that we turn to for really anything — Century Group being one of them,” Miller says.
“We are consistently able to throw a wide variety of roles at them at various levels and specialties, and they are always able to run with it — this keeps us coming back to engage them for searches.”
For a recent staffing search, Fortis Bank needed a temporary HR Administrator to help Miller while a team member was out on maternity leave. As a one-woman show, duties like scheduling interviews and ad hoc, administrative tasks were falling to the wayside and she needed someone to fill the gap. Her solution: reach out to Century Group’s Denver team.
The Solution
After an exploratory call with Managing Director, Kellyn Campman, the two were able to flesh out the role’s needs and requirements. A couple of weeks later, Miller had several capable candidates’ profiles on her desk. Candidates then need to produce a satisfactory survey result through Fortis’ partner vendor, Culture Index — a component many staffing firms get frustrated by.
“We will have a candidate who on paper and in a resume might look great, yet their culture index survey indicates that they're probably not going to be a fit,” Miller explains.
“Kellyn and her team have always been very respectful of that element… They’re able to receive feedback, take it to heart and apply it as their search continues.”
Soon after, Century Group identified the right consultant to take on the needed HR responsibilities, and who also went on to build a strong working relationship with Miller throughout the assignment.
The Result
Century Group continues to be a top resource for Miller and Fortis Bank, recently helping to fill key accounting leadership and compliance-related roles. Miller points to the shared understanding and respect that’s made Century Group such a valuable staffing and recruiting partner all these years. But most importantly: it’s the results.
“A search may start with 20 candidates, and we only consider a couple of them. Century Group will send us 10 and we’re likely to consider seven,” Miller says. “They know what a Fortis person looks like; they know what kind of person works well and it’s not uncommon we convert them to full-time employees."
